ORDINATION Flashcards

1
Q

What is your understanding of Ordination?

A

Ordination is the recognition and confirmation of God’s call upon an individual for ministry of the Gospel. It is an acknowledgment of a certain role within the body of Christ and does not confer special spiritual power or authority. Additionally, its serves as an invitation to the gospel ministry and not just to pastor and/or preach.

Q

Why is it essential to hold the mystery of faith in a pure conscience?

A

(1 Tim 3:9) This is the recognition that there is something that has yet to be revealed yet in order for its clues to be divulged, it must be done with a clear mind. The mind must not be convoluted with personal issues or defiled from the world.

Q

What is your authority according to II Timothy 2:1-10?

A

We are given the unmerited grace of Jesus Christ. As we seek to share and equip others through our sharing of the gospel, it will not be an easy task. Yet we are given the encouragement of Christ throughout the passage. Although He suffered for the gospel, he was raised and so will we be as we endure for Christ sake.

Q

What proof do you have that there is a God?

A

The Bible begins by assuming and declaring the existence of God…”In the beginning God…” Therefore God revealed Himself through the physical universe and through His creation. Secondly we have the revelation through Jesus Christ. Through his ability to fully understand the mind and actions of God. Lastly, through fulfilled prophesy. There are countless Old Testament prophecies recorded in the New Testament. This bears the internal evidence of a reliable history.

Q

Why is Ordination a commitment?

A

It signifies the commitment of a person to the ministry in the will of God. Equally, it is a call that the individual has the responsibility to continue to mature in the faith. They will never “arrive” even when they are called to higher positions and offices within the church, denomination or community.
