What was the purpose of the Land Ordin. of 1785?
A
It divided public land into townships, which made land sales/settlement easier

What were characteristics of the LO of 1785?
A
The townships were divided, and the 36 sections were sold for $1 an acre. One section per township was used to support schools.

What were characteristics of the NW Ordinance of 1787?
A
It guaranteed basic rights for settlers in the NW territory and banned slavery there. It also set a 3 step process for admitting new states.
