What Conditions Must be Met to Conduct LPD Operations?
A
- The LPD must be within 30 minutes of the destination and where possible close to the top of descent;
- Forecast weather at the destination must not require an alternate to be filed;
- Forecast weather at the alternate must meet divert criteria;
- The aircraft must have sufficient fuel to arrive overhead destination with at least 4000kg.

What is the Minimum Amount of Island Hold Fuel Allowed and When Can Island Hold Be Used?
A
- 6500kg (3500kg for one hour holding over and above 3000kg standard overhead destination fuel);
- When no suitable divert exists within 240nm. Note if on the day calculations show 1 hour holding is more than 3500kg, use the higher figure.

NZDF pilots who hold an IR and are operating under MILMIN are authorised to reduce the take-off minima to zero cloud ceiling and visibility below that prescribed, provided the following are complied with:

- The runway to be used has centre-line marking or lighting and the visibility is sufficient to maintain directional control for take-off;
- The net flight path take-off obstacle clearance is checked;
- The authorisation and flight plan have a MILMIN annotation.

What limits are there for descent off a circling approach?
A
- By day NI 250’ MSD until established on finals.
- By night descent not below circling MDA until straight in unless clear visual reference with the ground (and obstacles) can be maintained in which case Day limit applies.
