staphylococci, streptococci, coliforms, haemophilus influenzae, anaerobes
describe the presentation of endophthalmitis
devastating infection inside of eye, very painful with decreasing vision, very red eye, sight threatening
how is endophthalmitis usually caused
by surgery, occurs post-surgical
what organisms can cause endophthalmitis
often conjunctival commensals, most commonly staph epidermidis
what treatment is used for endophthalmitis
intravitreal amakicin, ceftazidime, vancomycin and topical antibiotics
