which eye muscles are abductors/adductors
abductors: superior oblique, inferior oblique, lateral rectus
adductors: medial rectus, superior rectus, inferior rectus
which eye muscles are depressors/elevators
depressors: superior oblique, inferior rectus
elevators: inferior oblique, superior rectus
which eye muscles are lateral/medial rotators
lateral: inferior oblique, inferior rectus
medial: superior oblique, superior rectus
what innervates lacrimal gland (sensory and parasympathetically)
lacrimal nerve of v1 = GENERAL SENSORY
and
parasympathetically:
-preganglionic fibers from CN VII synapse at pterygopalatine ganglion. postganglionic fibers from the pterygopalatine ganglion go through zygomaticotemporal (of v2) to communicating branch to lacrimal nerve (V1) and then to the lacrimal gland.
what goes through/synapses in the ciliary ganglion? sympathetic vs parasympathetic? what extends from it?
- sensory from CN V1
- sympathetic fibers ; fibers extending from superior cervical ganglion (where they synapse) pass through )via plexus on internal carotid and opthalmic arteries)
- parasympathetic fibers; from oculomotor nerve, only one to synapse in the ciliary ganglion!
-short ciliary nerves; are mixed nerves , include sensory from eye, sympathetic to dilator pupillae muscles and parasympathetic to constrictor pupillae and ciliary muscles
what are the 3 branches of the opthalmic division of V1
- lacrimal
- Frontal (supratrochlear and supraorbital)
- nasociliary (posterior & anterior ethmoidal, dorsal nasal & branches to ciliary ganglion, long branches to eye and cornea.
what innervates ciliary, constrictor and dilator pupillae muscles?
ciliary and constrictor = oculomotor (3) presynaptic, innervated via postsynaptic parasympathetic fibers from ciliary ganglion
dilator pupillae = sympathetic fibers from superior cervical ganglion which run THROUGH ciliary ganglion
whats the fibrous coat of the eye
sclera and cornea
