neuroc1 Flashcards
what are the arachnoid mater layers
outer= mesothelial (adherent to dura mater) inner= trabecular (forms leptomeningeal bridges to pia mater)
what is epidural space
between dura mater and skull.
subdural- dura and arachnoid mater
whats the subarachnoid space
bridged by arachnoid trabeculae, blood vessels supply brain in this space. filled with CSF.
which artery causes epidural hematoma usually
middle meningeal
what usually causes subdural hematoma
jarring of head/shaking
what covers the sella turcica
diaphragma sella
its dural membrane extending from anterior clinoid processes to posterior clinoid processess
what innervates the supratentorial area dura
trigeminal 5
what innervates infrratentorial drua
vagus and cervical spinal nerves c1-c3
where do the meningeal layers get blood
dura from middle meningeal (of maxillary of external carotid)
-arachnoid is avascular
pia receives from arteries passing over cerebrum
all the blood supply :
- accessory meningeal
- occipital
- vertebral
- ascending pharyngeal
- anterior ethmoidal
- posterior ethmoidal
