Diffuse graish-white milky opalescent appearance of mucosa that is common amongst blacks and 80% of the total population. If it goes away with stretching, it is benign
What are microglossia and aglossia associated with (two conditions)?
Oromandibular limb hyogenesis syndromes or hypoplasia of the mandible
With what syndrome is macroglossia associated?
Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome
What is ankyloglossia and how common is it?
A short, thick lingual frenum and is uncommon
What develops from having a lingual thyroid, and what three clinical signs/symptoms are there?
Thryoid develops in the back of the throat behind the foramen cecum.
- Dyspnea
- Dysphagia
- Dysphonia
What syndrome is fissured tongue associated with?
Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (which also features facial paralysis)
With lateral soft palate fistulas, are they typically unilateral or bilateral?
Bilateral

- Otalgia
- Dysphagia
- Dysphonia
What demographic are nasolabial cyst/nasoalveolar cysts/nasolacrimal duct cysts prevalent? What percent is bilateral?
More common in females 30-50 years old; 10 percent bilateral
What is progressive Hemifacial atrophy/romberg syndrome?
Degenerative condition affecting one side of the face, and is uncommon
