It is no question that the UK has been struggling greatly in regards to the cost of living crisis with a massive influx in the cost of basic everyday needs. However, all signs seem to point towards Brexit and its contribution towards the cost of living crisis

The average Briton was nearly £2,000 worse off in 2023, while the average Londoner was nearly £3,400 worse off last year as a result of Brexit, the report reveals
Analysis point one
This shows that factually, people are losing out on large sums of money due to brexit. Whilst other factors may also be to blame, Brexit is undoubtedly impacting people’s financial situations negatively. With rejoining the EU, the cost of living would go down significantly and help improve our current situation.

Undoubtedly, rejoining the EU would give many benefits in helping those who want to travel as being within the EU give those the right to live, work or/ study abroad in any of the 27 other member countries of the EU

This is clearly an important reason to rejoin the EU, we can’t guarantee every citizen within the UK would like to remain living within it so giving a right to live in a variety of countries will benefit thousands of citizens.

This shows that instead of going downhill like expected after the pandemic, the UK economically went uphill, which wasn’t the case for most other counties- especially in the EU.

Another key factor which measures a country’s growth in economic terms is GDP. In the fourth quarter of 2021, UK GDP grew by 1%. France, Italy and the European area grew at a slower rate at 0.7%, 0.6% and 0.3%, respectively. Germany faced a 0.3% decline in real GDP growth in 2021.

This shows that after covid-19 hit and during recovery, the UK gained wealth and was growing economically at a faster pace than other european countries, showing the UK is more than capable to stand on its own two feet without the EU.
