What is health promotion?
Providing information and tools to help communicate and individuals make informed decisions.
Rehab may include:

What is a Rehab Team made up of?
Occupational therapist, physio therapist, dietion, PSW, nurse, family
What are orthadocs?
Something that aligns the muscle with the bone to correct or deformity Fake limbs Insoles Brace Splint
What is the PSW role for orthadocs?
Assess family for getting them for client, clean them, put them on, take them off, be able to teach them how to use them
What is Expressive Apashia?
They cannot express anything, but they can fully understand what everyone is saying
What is Receptive Aphasia?
They cannot understand what your saying, but they can express everything they want
What is Rehab versus Restoration?
To restore health and to be independant
What is development?
Things you do in an orderly fashion. It is progression. Example is crawling, before walking, then running. Developmental tasks are steps it takes and the age. Example is 6 months before a baby starts crawling.

What is a Care Conference?
Are all the people involved in the client’s care. This includes dietition, nurses, family, POA, therapist, physio therapist
How do you check someones pulse?
Two fingers on the inside of the wrist, arm, neck, foot, or knee
What is the average pulse?
60-100
What is it called when it is below 60 beats per minute?
Bradycardia
What is it called when it is over 100 beats per minute?
Tachycardia
What is a normal pulse for a child?
80-120
What is the normal pulse for an infant?
120-160
How do you count respirations?
Watch the persons chest expand and and release
WHow many respirations are normal for an average adult?
12-10
What is the normal amount of respirations for a child?
Less than 24
What is the normal amount of respirations for a child?
More then 30
How do you take someone’s Blood Pressure?
With a blood pressure cuff
What is the average blood pressure for someone?
120/80
What is systolic? What is Diastolic?
Systolic is when the heart is pumping. Diastolic is when the heart is relaxing.
How do you check Oxygen saturation?
Finger test
What is the normal Oxygen saturation?
92-100%
If someone has COPD what is the normal Oxygen Saturation?
88-92%
How do you check someones temperature?
Orally, Tympatically, Axillary, and Rectal
What temperature takers do you not mix?
Rectal
What is the normal adult temperature?
- 8-37
* If it hits 38 tylenol is given
When would we not use oral care?
When client is puking, has open sores in their mouth, there is bleeding, if it causes pain, after surgery
How can someone lose heat?
Convection, conduction, radiations nod evaporation
What is convection?
Cold air that cools the body
What is conduction?
When heat is real eased through contact
What is a bear blanket?
Blanket that gives off heat or coolness
What is radiation?
When your so hot, your heat gives without contact
What is evaporation?
Sweating
How do you weigh a client?
Scale, making sure it’s zero first
How do you measure someone’s height?
Against a wall or in bed
