What is lymph?
A clear watery fluid, that contains protein, salts, glucose. If this system didn’t drain fluid from tissue, your body would swell, Major parts are located in bone marrow, spleen (filters and cleans blood) and lymph nodes. Lymph nodes produce cells to help fight infection.
What does the lymphatic system do?
Helps keep the body fluids in balance and defends the body against infection.
What are common places lymph nodes can be felt?
Neck Back of head Behind ears Arm pits Groin Under the jaw
What is the function of the lymphatic system?
Fluid balance. 10% of our blood is trapped in our tissue, the lymphatic system takes it back to the circulatory system.
What is immunity and spread of infection when talking about lymphatic system?
Carries antibodies and bacteria
What is digestion in the lymphatic system?
Lymph vessels in the G1 tract absorbs fat from food. A malfunction of this part of lymphatic system can result in serious malnutrition. The lymphatic system also impacts diseases like excessive obesity caused by abnormal metabolism.
