opTHICCs Flashcards
what is visible light?
a form of energy that is visible to the human eye, a very small part of the electromagnetic spectrum
ROY G BIV
what is the electromagnetic spectrum?
the range of frequencies of radiation and their respective wavelengths
what is the e-LEK-tro-mag-NET-ik SPEK-truhm?
its more than just a name of a range of radiataion let me tell you what they are; radiio waves, mircowaves, infrared radiation! visible light! ultra violet, x-rays, gamma rays!!
what are the three categories of matter?
translucent, transparent, and o-PAYK
what is transparent matter
transmits all or almost all light like a clear window
what is translucent matter
transmits some light but absorbs the rest, can not be seen through clearly like a frosted glass window
what is opaque matter
a door, a bike, that paper, all of it . does not transmit any light.
what is luminescent
a source that produces its own light like a lit match
what is non- luminous
does not produce its own light like most things like a pencil, see that water bottle, yep that too.
what is incandescence
light as a result of high temps like molten glass
what is electric discharge
neon light, light produced by passing electricity through our frineds the noble gasses
what is phosphorescence
light produced by absorbing UV light like the glow in the dark stars that i once put on my ceiling but i wasnt that into it and the stars were really big and i only put like three and it was really bad.
what is florescence
immediate emission of visible light as a result of absorbed UV light like a highlighter
what is this chemiluminescence
the direct production of light due to a chemical reaction like when you crack glow sticks little to no heat produced
bioluminescence is
production of light in living organisims like fireflies
you would not belive ur eyes butlike all these fireflies are everywhere
remember when we had a dance to that song in like grade 5 and it was so BAD
LED lights
electric current flowing in semi conductors like a christmas light
triboluminescenufbfdthwsd is
production of light from friction like crystals bein rubbbbed
what is specular reflection
specTACULAR reflection when the reflecting surface is clear and flat and the ras fly off very nice
what is difused reflection
when the water is choppy and the light bounces off everywhere makinga blurry reflection
how do you describe images in mirrors
salt
size, attitude, location, type
what is a converging mirror
convave where the curve is inwards like a cave cool eh
waht is the principal axis
line through the center of the mirror
what is the vertex
where the mirror and principal axis meet
what is the focus
point where the light rays converge
how do you find an image in a concave mirror
- line straight from the op of teh object to the mirror
- line reflects through focus
- line from top of image through focus
- line reflects off mirror parallel to principal axis
- top of image is where the lines intersect
ever an imsge at F in converging mirrors
NOPE
how do you find the image in convex mirrors?
- arrow from top of object to mirror
2 line from focus to first line and beyond
3.line from top of object to focus point
where line hits mirror, draw a line that goes parallel to the PA - where all lines intersect you can make a lil image bc its always a small image
what the law of relection
angle of incidence= angle of relfection
how do u look head to toe in a mirror
eyes to top of head
eyes to eyes
eyes to feet
i guess honestly i kinda forget ooops
what is lateral inversion
When its right to left instead of left to right like an ambulance
ok
now go back to the other deck. this is like a choose ur own adventure story but theres only one story and it is never ending.
