Takeoff Minimums - Lower than STD
• Ops Specs allow lower than standard takeoff minimums provided the runway is classified as "STD" • Must see "STD" in takeoff mins section for runway you plan to use. 1). RVR 16 or 1/4 2). TDZ RVR 12 / Rollout RVR 10 3). 600/600/600 RVR
Takeoff Alternates
Needed any time:
Visibility is below landing minimums for a suitable runway at departure airport.
Lowest landing min is:
1/2 SM (lowest CAT l apch mins)
Alternate must be within 270nm
• 1hr flight time in still air w/ 1 eng inop
• put airport in FMS Nav, fix info
Destination Alternate
1-2-3: 1 hr prior to after ETA, ceiling >= 2,000 ft and vis >= 3 sm
- Is alternate in Jepps
- Does it have “NA” in for alt box
- Is wx atleast 400’/1SM iaw C55
- Are there any NOTAMS
C55 (Takeoff/Destination Alternate)
Method 1 1 Nav Aid, 1 suitable runway • add 400' to HAT/HAA and 1SM 2 Nav Aids, 2 runways • add 200' HAT, 1/2sm to higher of the published landing mins
Exemption 3585
Allows departure when weather at destination or alternate is conditionally below landing mins:
FROM indicates legal wx but,
Tempo, Prob, Becmg is a problem
• Conditionals may be 1/2 C55 vis
• All of 2nd alternate complies with C55
2nd Destination Alternate
Are the destination and first alternate airport marginal?
i.e.
Braking Action
Good - normal
Medium (Fair) - reduced, snow
Poor - hydroplaning, slush/water
Nil - prohibited (nonexistent, ice)
Weather Below Mins on Apch:
Do not continue an apch past the FAF or final apch segment of:
Reported vis is less than required for that approach
Wind Additive
5-20 knots
1/2 headwind component and all the gust factor
