to relieve spasmotic effects (biliary spasm, renal colic)
What are side effects of Meperidine?
Serotonin seizure respiratory depression dysphoria tremor
When is hydrocodone indicated?
treats moderate to severe pain (mu receptor, delta receptor)
When is codeine indicated?
mild to moderate pain
cough
diarrhea
IBS
narcolepsy
When is pentazocine used?
dental extraction
What is an important side effect of pentazocine?
weakly antagonizes analgesic effects of morphine and meperidine
When is methadone indicated?
to control intractable cough associated with terminal lung cancer
