What 4 OpSpecs govern Operational Control?
- BO50 covers where we can go geographically
- CO52 covers what instrument approaches we can do
- DO85 covers which aircraft we can use Part 135
- DO92 covers our RVSM authority
Why do we need four levels of release?
To assess and manage risk
What is a Level 1 release?
Self release with passengers onboard
What is a Level 2 release?
An empty repositioning leg.
Always check with SOC before fueling.
What are the 5 criteria for a Level 3 release?
- International flight
- Class 2 navigation – outside ground service volume
- Special airports in the SAG
- Contaminated runways
- New Captain release
NOTE: self release may be applicable.
What are the 9 criteria for a Level 4 release?
NOTE: 5 flights, 2 weather, two other
“Red 2489”
- Part 91 flight – requires CPO approval
- Ferry flight
- Maintenance check flight – requires CPO release
- Maintenance confidence flight – may require CPO release
- High speed taxi test
- DAAP
- Braking action MED to POOR
- Supplemental oxygen on board – requires MX release
- CSE is red
What 3 types of SMS (Safety Management System) reports are there?
- Crew Self Evaluation report for fatigue management
- Captains Report
- ASAP
When and why and how quickly do we need to do an ASAP?
Why = To identify hazards and mitigate risk, and protect ourselves How = Pilot Portal ->Safety->ASAP When = Within 24 hours or 3 day email extension.
Immediate report items: (10 items)
SAUDII FSDO
- Safety violation
- Aborted takeoff
- Unscheduled landing
- Deviation from normal procedures
- Inability of flight crew to perform duties
- Incident or accident
- Flight that encounters weather significant to other flights
- Significant deviation from planned route
- Delay greater than 15 minutes
- Other safety of flight info
What 5 steps do we do in case of an accident?
- Notify emergency services
- Notify SOC
- Preserve the wreckage and records
- Wait for the controlling agency
- File a Captains report and an ASAP
Two normal landing factors:
60% refers to 1.67 times the APG landing distance
Adding 15% for wet numbers or visibility less than 3/4 sm or 1.92
if we are unable to land on 60% of the landing runway the DAAP allows us to use 80% of the runway.
No wet numbers are allowed CA 2000TT and 100 PIC in type FO 1000TT and 100PIC in type 80% is 1.25 \+15% for visibility below ¾ sm is 1.44
