Operant Conditioning: Learned Behaviors Flashcards
The study in the way in which the behavior changes
Operant Conditioning
Something that is added
Positive
Something that is taken away
Negative
Anything that is likely to decrease behavior
Punisher
Direct biological ties
Primary Reinforcers
Not directly or biologically relevant to the species
Secondary Reinforcers
Presents a stimulus that reinforces further behavior to obtain that stimulus
Positive Reinforcement
Occurs when we are presented with something that deters us from that behavior in the future
Positive Punishment
Taking action to remove an unpleasant stimulus conditioning is to take that same action in the future
Negative Reinforcement
When the rewarding stimulus is removed conditioning us for avoidance of the behavior that got us there
Negative Punishment
