What is open source?
Open source code is a code that can be used by anyone without a license and is distributed with the source code.
Advantages of open source
It can be modified and improved by anyone.
Technical support from online community.
Can be modified or customisable and also can be sold on that
Disadvantages of open source
Support available alignment may be insufficient or incorrect, it may also contain bugs and the developer of the code will have less control over it which would mean and lower security
What is a closed source?
Close source code requires the user to have an appropriate license to be able to use it.users cannot access the source code as the company owns the copyright license
Advantages of closed source
It will have thorough, regular and well tested updates
Company owning the software can provide expert support and user manual
It will have high levels of security due to it being developed professionally
Disadvantages of close source
The license restrict how many people can use the software at once.
Users cannot modify and improve the software themselves
Closed source can be costly due to the need of expert support and training of staff
