OP Flashcards
where would you begin your palpation for the cervical spine when doing any vertebral challenges?
C2
what direction do you apply pressure with posterior anterior central pressure?
forward with slow controlled movement
what kind of end feel do the vertebral challenge have?
springing end feel
how can you determine if an end feel is normal?
by assessing above and below to compare the joints
how do you apply a posterior anterior unilateral vertebral pressure challenge?
pressure is applied to the transverse processes on each side and forward pressure
what’s different about the thoracic spine that would effected palpation of TP?
not all thoracic TP are directly lateral from the SP. They can be found above lateral from the superior vertebra
ex.. T6 tp are found lateral to T5
how would you perform transverse pressure challenge?
place thumb along the sides of the SP and apply lateral push to the process. must perform each side one at a time
where would you start your palpations of the thoracic spine?
C6 process
where would you start your Lumbar spine palpation?
L5 (can use sacrum to help easier locate the point)
what nerve glide does the follow describe
- supine
- abduct shoulder to 110
- flex elbow
- external rotate the shoulder
- supinate forearm
- extend wrist and fingers
- lateral flexion of C/S opposite side
- slowly extend elbow with C/S flexion to the opposite side
median nerve glide
how would you stretch the median nerve?
instead of flexing the elbow like you would pre performance of median nerve glide, you would extend the elbow and have the head flexed to the opposite side
do you need to demonstrate and witness exercise in clinical setting?
no
which nerve glide is the follow:
- supine
- hip flexion
- adduct the hip
- internal rotation
- dorsiflexion
- neck flexion
plantar and dorsi flex while flexing the neck slowly to glide the neck
sciatic nerve
what would you add to sciatic nerve glide to mobilize the tibial nerve?
dorsiflexion and eversion
what would you add to sciatic nerve glide to mobilize the sural nerve?
dorsiflexion and inversion
