Q

What does Anselm say about God

A

He is ‘ greater than all that can be concieved’, and it is always better to exist in reality than just the mind. Existence is a quality of Gods nature, like his necessity. It is foolish to say he is perfect but does not exist because existence is part of his definition.

Q

What were Gaunilos criticisms ?

A

• Fellow Monk, but disagreed that because God is perfect, he must exist.
• He argued its ridiculous, becauwe it would mean a whole manner of perfect things existed in reality. He used the example of a lost Island.

Q

What were Kants criticisms of the Ontalogical argument?

A

Existence is not a PREDICATE.

He argued that existence doesn’t add any more information about a subject.

He used the example of 100 thalers (coins). Imagine 100 thalers in your mind, then imagine 100 thalers in existence. They’re the same.
