Q

Grabbing 7

A

Attack - Two handed choke
Defense - Leverage release with arm bar. Defender can use either arm to initiate defense. If using right arm, the right arm begins by weaving over the first arm (left) of the attacker and under the second arm (right), to clasp with the left hand (of the defender), palm to palm. The defender then uses leverage to escape by twisting his body to the right as the clasped hands pull up against the attacker’s right arm (forearm/elbow area). OPTIONAL: As the “grabbing hands” are released the defender unclasps his hands and grabs the attacker’s right arm (right hand on the attacker’s wrist, left forearm just above the elbow), to execute a downward arm-bar.

Q

Grabbing 10

A

Attack - Single hand grab to shoulder from the rear - same side
Defense - Arm-bar into full wrist joint-lock. If the attacker uses right arm to grab the right shoulder, the defender will use his right arm, while twisting right, to swing up and over the attacker’s arm (as if doing a backward swim stroke). The defender keeps twisting, after the grab is broken, so that his left arm can come up an dover the attacker’s shoulder area. The defender then grabs with both hands at the attacker’s hand, to pull up, while dropping his weight onto the attacker’s shoulder joint. While the defender takes the attacker all the way to the ground, the defender applies pressure back (pulling) on the attacker’s hand, to execute a full-wrist joint-lock.

Q

Grabbing 5

A

Attack - Same side shoulder/lapel grab
Defense - Half-wrist joint-lock. If left should is grabbed then defender reaches across with right hand to grab attacker’s “grabbing hand”. The defender then turns his body to the right as he uses his left triceps/elbow area to apply pressure down on the attacker’s right arm, just above the elbow as he steps back with right foot to pull attacker off balance.

Q

Punching High 10

A

Defense using front sweep. Stepping back with left leg, use right hand to high block, slip and grab the attacker’s wrist. Use left foot to step in front of attacker’s front foot. Place left hand on the back of attacker’s punching shoulder. Pull attacker’s right arm forward as your left hand pushes from backside (getting his weight to come forward) while sweeping his right foot back (hit back of your calf to his shin). Attacker will fall onto his front side. Hold onto attacker’s arm while he goes down.

Q

Punching Middle 5

A

Defense using “kick-out” takedown. Stepping forward 45 degrees to your left, block punch with left parry (pressing) block, strik right then left punch to attacker’s exposed ribs, then strike third punch to attacker’s face. use right hand to grab attacker’s shoulder, then kick out attacker’s front leg with a right side kick to back of knee, while pulling him to the ground. Finish by punching to the attacker’s face with right hand (for balance, kneel on the right knee)

Q

Punching High 9

A

Defense using rear sweep. Stepping back with right foot, left high block, let left hand “slips” and grabs attacker’s wrist. Use front foot to step closer to attacker, dragging your right foot closer too. Lean into attacker, getting their weight to go backward. Use your right leg to pull/sweep attacker’s front leg (hitting at their calf), knocking out attacker’s front leg, while pushing forward on his shoulder. Attacker will fall onto his back. Hold onto attacker’s arm while he goes down.

Q

Kicking High 11

A

Steps back with left leg, blocks punch with left arm and delivers a right leg Jump Turning Kick.

22
Q

Grabbing 3

A

Attack - Same side wrist grab
Defense - Full wrist joint-lock. If right wrist is grabbed, the defender reaches across with left hand and holds onto the attacker’s grabbing hand. The defender then circles his right hand counter-clockwise up and turns over to grab the attacker’s “grabbing hand”. The defender then applies pressure with the left palm on the back of the “grabbing hand”.

23
Q

Kicking Low 10

A

Kicks the attacker’s mid-section/groin using a twisting front kick

24
Q

Kicking High 8

A

Steps back with left leg (parry or no block) and delivers left leg Reverse Hook Kick.

25
Q

Kicking Low 5

A

Kicks the attacker’s thigh with a turning kick (top of foot)

26
Q

Kicking Low 8

A

Kicks the attacker’s rear knee using an inverted side kick

27
Q

Grabbing 4

A

Attack - cross wrist grab
Defense - Z-lock. If right wrist is grabbed, the defender reaches across with left hand and holds onto attacker’s grabbing hand. The defender steps back on a diagonal to pull attacker off balance while circling his hand clockwise (under attacker’s wrist) and up to grab onto attacker’s wrist. Pressure is applied down with right hand onto the arm (wrist) of the “grabbing hand”, causing pressure on the outside of the attacker’s wrist.

28
Q

Grabbing 2

A

Attack - cross wrist grab
Defense - Circular wrist motion to release from the wrist grab (wax on, wax off). If right wrist is grabbed, then the hand/wrist circles counter-clockwise, ending up pulling to the right away from the body using a right leg side step.

29
Q

Punching High 8

A

Defense using shoulder lock. Stepping back with right foot, left high block, let left hand “slips” and grabs attacker’s wrist. Use front foot to step closer to attacker while right arm goes under the punching arm and unlocks the elbow with a slight hit. Keeping this right hand curled under punching arm, grab attacker’s forearm area and pull his arm back using both your left and right arms (raise your right elbow as you do this for more leverage.

30
Q

Grabbing 8

A

Attack - Single hand grab to chest or chock
Defense - Upward arm-bar using shoulder. If attacker uses right arm to grab, defender will grab the attacker’s hand with both hands (thumbs on top/palm up). Defender then steps in with left foot, to turn his back to the attacker, while pulling the attacker’s arm up onto the left shoulder. It is very important hat the attacker’s arm should be positioned so that the elbow is facing down. The defender then applies pressure by pulling down on the attacker’s arm (from the wrist area).

31
Q

Punching Middle 6

A

Defense using arm-lock sweep. Stepping forward 45 degrees to your left, block punch with left parry (pressing) block, quickly hook the punch over the top with the parrying arm. Spin backwards with right foot, delivering a reverse elbow strike to attacker’s kidneys. Keep the attacker’s arm locked behind your back (through left arm), as you reach between the two of you with right arm and reach across attacker’s mid-section. Use your right leg to sweep your opponent to the ground.

32
Q

Kicking High 7

A

Steps back with left leg (parry or no block) and delivers left leg Back Kick.

33
Q

Punching Middle 4

A

Defense using arm bar. Stepping forward 45 degrees to your left, block punch with right knifehand block. Grab attacker’s wrist with same hand. Use let hand to apply pressure above elbow.

34
Q

Grabbing 9

A

Attack - Single hand grab to elbow/upper arm from the rear or side - same side
Defense - If the attacker uses right arm to grab the right elbow area, the defender will use his right arm to reach up and grab the attacking arm near the forearm area while turning toward him. Defender should step through with left foot under the arms turning his body clockwise pulling the arms over his head. Once overhead, the attacker should be in a shoulder lock. The defender should step forward with left foot pulling the attacker to the ground.

35
Q

Grabbing 6

A

Attack - Cross should/lapel grab
Defense - Outside wrist joint-lock. If right shoulder is grabbed, the defender reaches across with left hand to grab the attacker’s “grabbing hand”. Make sure to grab, so as to wrap finders around the attacker’s thumb pad area on the palm. Pull the attacker’s hand off the should, back to the (defender’s) left side, turning his hand simultaneously so his palm faces toward him (away from defender). Apply pressure to the back of attacker’s hand, across the knuckles, as defender steps back with left foot in a circular path. OPTIONAL: Once on the ground, keep spinning the opponent so that he ends up on his stomach in order to apply pressure with a full-wrist joint-lock.

36
Q

Kicking Low 7

A

Kicks the attacker’s knee using a side kick

37
Q

Kicking High 3

A

Steps back with right leg, blocks punch with left hand, and kicks a side kick.

38
Q

Punching High 7

A

Defense using keyhold lock/figure - four lock. Stepping back using right foot, left high block, let left hand “slip” from blocking to grabbing attacker’s wrist. Right arm will “swim stroke” over attacker’s arm, unlocking the elbow with a slight hit using thumb/wrist area to strike. Use front foot to step closer to attacker then use left arm to bend the punching arm backwards while right arm curl under the attacker’s wrist/forearm to lock on top of your own left wrist.

39
Q

Kicking High 10

A

Steps back with left leg, blocks punch with left arm and delivers a right leg Jump Front Kick.

40
Q

Kicking Low 14

A

Drops to the left side (left forearm) and takes attacker down with a side-scissor takedown attack to the front leg. Left leg hooks the attacker’s ankle (from the inside), while the right leg strikes attacker’s knee (from the outside) with a hook kick (back of heel). Once the leg buckles and the opponent drops to the ground the defender rolls to the right side to lock the leg.

41
Q

Kicking Low 1

A

Kicks the attacker’s shin to the outside with a twisting kick

42
Q

Kicking Low 2

A

Kicks the attacker’s thigh with an axe kick (angled in to leg)

43
Q

Kicking Low 11

A

Kicks the attacker’s inside upper ankle area a kick with the inside of the right foot (same area as inside crescent kick - similar to kicking a soccer ball)

44
Q

Kicking Low 6

A

Kicks to the attacker’s groin section using a rising-heel kick

45
Q

Kicking Low 4

A

Kicks the attacker across the front of the shin with a turning kick (in an inward direction with ball of foot)

46
Q

Kicking Low 13

A

Drops to right side (right forearm) and takes attacker down with a straight-scissor takedown attack to the front leg. Right leg pulls on attacker’s ankle (from behind), while the left foot strikes the attacker’s knee (from the front) with a side kick.

47
Q

Kicking High 4

A

Steps back with right leg, blocks punch with left hand, and kicks a right leg Axe Kick

48
Q

Kicking High 14

A

Steps back with left leg (parry or no block) and delivers a Jump Reverse-Hook Kick

49
Q

Punching Low 3

A

Defense using punching. With right foot stepping back, left hand low block, step in 45 degrees with right foot facing the attacker. Counter-punch right hand to groin, left to the solar plexus, right hand to the nose.

50
Q

Kicking High 2

A

Steps back with right leg, blocks punch with left hand, and kicks a turning kick.
