Hibbs Test
Hibb for the hip!
usually for hip, but they could say SI
Patient prone. Flex leg to the buttock
• Then move the leg outward to internally rotate the hip • Slight distraction of the SI joint
• +Pain in the SI joint - sacroiliac joint lesion
• +Pain in the hip - hip joint lesion
Knee-to-Shoulder Test
Sacroiliac Joint Rocking Test
- Sacroiliac joint pain
- Patient supine
- Knee to opposite shoulder
- Pain ipsilateral sacroiliac joint
- Pain Sacro tuberous ligament
- ~+ pain anterior hip – psoas, joint capsule
Patrick FABER Test
FABER is an acronym for the figure four
so this is for the hip or SI joint
Coxal joint, sacroiliac joint
- Patrick’s, Figure 4
- Patient - Flexion abduction external rotation
- Practitioner – hand opposite ASIS
- Hand same medial knee
- Normal – leg abducts to level of opposite leg
- cannot abduct – iliopsoas, adductor longue, coxal joint capsule, sacroiliac joint pain
Thomas Test
Rectus femoris, iliopsoas, sartorius
• Patient lies on end of table with half of thigh hanging off
• Hug one leg below knee
• + Femur elevates – psoas
• + Decrease knee flexion – rectus femoris
• + Femur abducts, externally rotates – sartorius, iliotibial band
