When breaking bad news the SPIKES framework is useful, what does SPIKES stand for?
S = setting
P = patients perception
I = invitation to continue with explanation
K= knowledge in small chunks
E= empathy for the shock or other emotions
S= strategy for what you and the patient are going to do
If a patient has been told they have a shadow on their lung and directly ask you if it is cancer, what should you say?
