- Don’t wait for pain to happen
- regular and adequate dosage of most appropriate drug
- use co-analgesics: NSAIDS for bone pain, amitriptyline/carbamazepine for neural pain, anxiolytics or anti-emetics.
- Opiates also relieve dyspnea
