Q

Describe the tp location and treatment position for flexion calcaneous

A

Anterior aspect of the calcaneus on the plantar surface of the foot at the attachment of the plantar fascia. (Midline, lowest part of true Heel with patient in prone position)

Prone. Marked flexion of the forefoot. Approximate the forefoot to the calcaneus.

Q

Describe the tp location and treatment position for medial ankle (tibialis anterior)

A

Inferior to the medial malleolus along the deltoid ligament

LR with Pillow elevating ankle, affected side up. Place a fulcrum on the medial aspect of the ankle. Apply an inversion force with slight shear. (Basically introduce the classic basketball ankle roll with inversion, supination, and plantar flexion.

Q

Describe the tp location and treatment position for lateral ankle (fibularis)

A

Inferior and anterior to the lateral malleolus in the sinus tarsi (talocalcaneal sulcus).

LR with Pillow elevating ankles, affected side down. Place a fulcrum on the lateral aspect of the ankle. Apply an eversion force with slight shear. (exact opposite of inversion roll).

Q

Describe the tp location and treatment position for Gastroc

A

Within the proximal gastrocnemius muscles distal to the popilteal margin. (Basically a couple fingers width below the knee, in either head of the gastroc).

Pt. Prone. Knee flexion with marked plantar flexion of the ankle.
