OMM 6 Upper Extremity CS Flashcards
Describe the tp location and treatment position for subscapularis
Anterolateral border of scapula (on subscapularis m.) Press in anterolateral to posteromedial direction. (Locate by raising arm above head)
Supine. Shoulder extension and internal rotation.
Describe the tp location and treatment position for supraspinatus
Belly of supraspinatus muscle, approximately midline.
Supine. Flexion of shoulder, abduction, marked external rotation.
Describe the tp location and treatment position for levator scapula
Tenderness at the superior medial border of the scapula at the attachment of the Levator Scapula.
Patient prone. Marked internal rotation of the shoulder with traction and slight abduction.
Describe the tp location and treatment position for long head of biceps
Over bicep tendon in the bicipital groove (more lateral than short head)
Supine (or seated)Elbow flexion, Shoulder flexion, Abduction, Internal rotation.
Describe the tp location and treatment position for short head of biceps
Infero-lateral aspect of the coracoid process.
Supine (or seated) Elbow flexion, Shoulder flexion, Adduction, internal rotation.
Describe the tp location and treatment position for Pec minor
Inferior and medial to the coracoid process at the myotendinous junction of in the muscle belly.
Supine. Arm adducted diagonally across chest, tractioned inferomedially. (can also pick up from opposite shoulder)
Describe the tp location and treatment position for radial head, lateral
Anterolateral aspect of the radial head at the attachment of the supinator.
Supine (or seated) Elbow in full extension, Forearm in marked supination, Slight vagus force
Describe the tp location and treatment position for medial epicondyle
Medial epicondyle of humerus at the comon flexor tendon (attachment of pronator teres)
Supine (or seated) Elbow flexed, Marked pronation of forearm, Slight adduction of the forearm with slight flexion of the wrist
Describe the tp location and treatment position for dorsal wrist
Proximal 2nd-5th metacarpals in muscles of extensor carpi radialais and ulnaris.
Supine or Seated. Wrist extension with slight Radial/Ulnar deviation
Describe the tp location and treatment position for palmar wrist
Base of proximal 2nd-5th metacarpals in muscles of flexor carpi radialis and ulnaris.
Supine or Seated. Wrist flexion with slight Radial/Ulnar deviation.
Describe the tp location and treatment position for abductor pollicis brevis
Anterolateral (radial) aspect of base of 1st metacarpal (in the thumbpad)
Supine or Seated. Wrist flexion with abduction of thumb (push thumb across the hand and down).
