proton pump inhibitor
prevents proton pump which in turn inhibits the secretion of gastric acid

GORD
dyspepsia (indigestion)
severe oesophagitis
h pylori eradication (makes environment not suitable for life)

contraindications (cautions)
A
can increase the risk of fractures
increase chance of GI infections

interactions
A
acyclovir (omeprazole increases its metabolism)
apixaban (omeprazole decreases excretion rate of it)
Methotrexate (decreased clearance)
citalopram (SSRI)
tyrosine kinase inhibitors (cancer treatment)

headache nausea d and v stomach pain constipation flatuence
jaundice indicates liver problems
joint pain indicates lupus
