Main features of the project
A
- Land was purchased by single authority - Olympic Delivery Authority
- Decontamination of land used for industrial purposes
- Electricity cables buried underneath the ground
- Construction of bridges and waterways to improve access
- Landscaping to create natural habitats improving appearance

Since the Olympic games it was transformed. It now contains:
A
- Excellent modern sports arenas e.g Olympic Stadium, the Aquatics Centre and cycling velodrome
- A landscaped park + tourist attractions and natural habitats
- The Athletes’ Village now converted into housing for local people + 5 new residential communities planned by 2030
- Improved aquatic environment, with footpaths and cycleways
- East Village, a new community with 2800 homes, shops, cafes and a school for 1800

Environmental aspects of Olympic park regeneration
A
- Collecting rainwater and recycling water for use as ‘grey water’ in the house, at work and for community services e.g watering parks and golf courses
- Using biomass for electricity and heating
- Using green roofs to harvest rainwater and grow food + look attractive
