Q

What is latitude and how does it affect climate

A

An angle which ranges from 0° at the equator to 90° degrees to the poles.
Due to the rays of the sunlight, the closer to the equator you are, the warmer it is

Q

What is ocean current and how does it influence Climate

A

Directed movement of water that flows in one of Earth’s oceans.
When an air mass passes over one, it matches the temperature of the ocean current

Q

What is distance from water and how does it affect Climate

A

How far away you are from a large body of water.
Areas far from oceans have continental climate, meaning they have a large temperature range and don’t get much precipitation.
Areas close to oceans have maritime climate, meaning they have a small temperature range and get a lot of precipitation

Q

What are mountains and what effect does it have on the Climate

A

A large landform above the surrounding land in a limited area, usually in the form of the peak.
As the air rises, it expands because of the lower air pressure. as the air expands it begins to cool

Q

What are air masses and what effect do they have on the climate

A

A large body of air that has temperature and moisture properties throughout.
Error messages will work together with ocean currents, as they can transfer the temperature to the land. while air masses have their own temperatures, they will most likely take the ones from any ocean currents they pass over

Q

What are prevailing winds and what effect do they have on the climate

A

Winds that blow predominately from a single general direction.
Since winds mostly blow from west to east anything, east of main bodies of water will get lots of precipitation.
