Oil System (Dash 1) Flashcards
Oil capacity
18.5 US quarts
Where is the oil supplied to
-Engine bearings
-Reduction gears
-Accessory drives
-Propeller
Oil components
-Pressure system
-SCAVENGE system
-Cooling system
-Breather system
When should the oil level be serviced/checked?
Within 30 min of engine shutdown. Most accurate between 15-20 min
Normal oil level
Between ADD and MAX HOT
When should you add oil?
If oil level is at or below ADD
How many oil pressure systems are there?
Two. One at the bottom and one on top for inverted flight.
Where are the scavenge pumps located?
One inside the accessory gearbox and one outside.
Where is the oil cooler?
Lower aft cowl assembly
What psi will the oil pressure indicate with the engine shut down?
Up to 4 psi
How is oil pressure/temperature measured?
Transducers downstream from the main oil pump. The signal is sent to the engine data manager (EDM). The EDM passes the signal to the signal conditioning unit (SCU) that illuminates the CWS.
When does the red OIL PX annunciator activate?
If the oil pressure drops to 40 psi or below when above idle power, or when the oil pressure drops to 15 psi or below at idle.
When does the amber OIL PX annunciator activate?
When oil pressure is between 15 and 40 psi at idle power, and if the oil pressure drops to between 40 and 90 psi for 10 seconds above idle power.
Which bus includes the OIL TRX circuit breaker?
The battery bus
