17
Q

Potassium – Sparing Diuretic example

A

Amiloride

18
Q

Mechanism of action of Potassium sparing diuretics.

A

Promotes urination without the loss of K , by inhibiting Na channels.

19
Q

Side effect of K sparing diuretics

A

Hyperkalaemia

20
Q

Drug interactions with K sparing diuretics

A

ACE / ARB other diuretics K+ supplement

21
Q

Mechanism of action of Aldosterone antagonist

A

Inhibits aldosterone which causes less Na reabsorption

Therefore less K ions are exchanged for Na and therefore less lost in the urine.

22
Q

Aldosterone antagonist side effects

A

Gynomastia , Change in libido, Hyperkalaemia, Hyponatremia.

23
Q

MHRA for aldosterone antagonist

A

Aldosterone and ACE/ARB risk of hyperkalaemia and severe heart failure

24
Q

Osmotic Diuretics MOA

A

Inhibits Na retention

25
Q

Uses of osmotic diuretics

A

Oedema , Intercranial pressure
