example scenario of ODD
Preschool students in a classroom filled with toys. Teacher announces “Alright play with any of these toys and eat any of this candy but only thing you can NOT do is stand on this square in the carpet.” Rest of the preschoolers listen and play with the toys. The child with ODD would be the one standing on the square.
Explain Argumentative/Defiant behavior
Excessive arguing with adults. Active defiance and refusal to comply with adult requests and rules. Deliberate attempts to annoy or upset people. Blaming others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior.

What’s normal for young children (ODD)?
All children are oppositonal at times. Problem bx is common when kids are tired, hungry, stressed or upset. Arguing, talking back, disobeying, and defying parents, teachers, and other adults is common. Oppositional behavior is often a normal part of development.
When does ODD sometimes turn into Conduct Disorder?
Aggression to people and animals and Destruction of property

CD Specifiers
Limited prosocial emotions - at least 2 of the following persistently over the past 12 months by report of others who have known the individual for extended periods of time:
- Lack of remorse or guilt
- Callous-lack of empathy
- Unconcerned about performance
- Shallow or deficient affect
- not having to develop emotions. “I don’t seem to feel emotions like everyone else does.”
