Q

Is ICP fixed throughout life or can it change?

A

ICP can change throughout life, depending on restorations or teeth hat are extracted throughout this time.

Q

Is RCP fixed throughout life or does it change?

A

Generally fixed throughout life but can change if the patient has a condylar fracture.

Q

How do you guide someone into RCP?

A

Get them to relax their mandible, roll their tongue to the roof of their mouth and gently ask them to slowly close while you push on their chin.

13
Q

Under what circumstances would you want to change the occlusion?

A

Occlusion is unstable and there is a lack of sufficient index teeth.

Q

Under what circumstances would you not need to record the occlusion?

A

If there is sufficient index teeth where the casts can be hand articulated
- may still wish to take an inter-occlusal record to increase accuracy.

Q

16
Q

If there are insufficient teeth for hand articulation, what would you use to record the occlusion?

A

Wax record blocks.
- usually ask for a wire strengthener in the lower record block and a shellac base for complete upper record blocks.

17
Q

What equipment would you need for a jaw registration?

A

Wax record blocks
Bunsen burner or hot plate
Wax knife
Palate knife
Wax or bite registration paste

18
Q

Why do you need to do a jaw registration?

A

The technical can mount the casts on an articulator to replicate the bite in the patient.
This allows you to determine if there is space for rest seats and baseplate.

19
Q

What is an average value articulator?

A

The condylar angle is set at 30 degrees.

20
Q

What is an ARCON articulator?

A

Articulated condyle- the condyle is in mandibular element of the articulator.

21
Q

What position are casts mounted?

A

Arbitrary position.
