Landing checklist
300’ below MAP altitude set missed approach altitude.
LNAV only requirements
0.3nm RNP (applicable from FAF onwards)
VDA (MDA + 50’)
PM - VSD + LEGS PG selected by IAF
LNAV SHOULD BE ENGAGED BY IAF, SHALL BE ENGAGED BY FAF
DTO CLEARANCES TO AN IF CAN BE ACCEPTED PROVIDED TRACK CHANGE IS LESS THAN 45 DEGREES
LNAV / VNAV
same requirements as LNAV approach
Except :
Set DA to nearest 100’
300’ below MAP ALT SET MAP ALT
VRNP MUST BE 125’
PAST FAF MAP CONDUCTED IF VERT DEVIATION ALERT
IF USING QFE VNAV NOT AVAILABLE
RNP AR
Same as LNAV/VNAV
DTO 45 degree limit no longer an issue
PM - VSD + PROG PG ? + WX/TERR BY IAF
PF - TERR BY IAF
MAP MUST BE CONDUCTED IF PAST IAF HAVE DUAL RA FAILURE
RNP AR PROP differences to ICAO
- Higher bank angles and speed restrictions
- Low level off altitudes on final app
- optimised for certain aircraft and operators
- use aerodrome specific wind models
VA use GE charts
LVO - min take off visibility ?
125m RVR.
below 550RVR left seat only

CAT II & CAT III
CAT III -
3 consecutive longitudinally aligned lights (centreline, TDZ lights or runway lights)
CAT II -
3 consecutive as CATIII
AND
lateral element of lighting (approach light cross bar, landing threshold lights or barrette of TDZ lighting)
RUNWAY LIGHTING
TDZ LIGHTS EXTEND 900m (required for CAT II/III
Last 900m CL alternate red white last 300m all red.
Edge lights yellow last 600m remaining.
HIALS also mandatory for CAT II & IIIA operations. Not reqd for CAT IIIB
When are ILS critical areas not protected ?
Cloud ceiling greater than 600’ or the vis is greater than 2000m
FO’s can not be PF below CAT 1 approach
As above
When are the use of landing lights not recommend?
CAT III ILS CONDITIONS ultimately at captains discretion
Low vis taxi speed?
10 knots
FAIL PASSIVE AP FAILURE AT OR BELOW DH RVR _< 300m
A manual MAP must be conducted
Failure of AP above alert height what must be done ?
Revert to CAT I approach procedures
FAILURES ABOVE 1000’ AFE for LVO
Revert to higher DH/DA if necessary
Engage or reengage AP(s) prior to 1000’ AFE or conduct MAP
If only one AP engaged by 1000’AFE revert to higher minima for the wx conditions
NARROW RUNWAY OPS -
TO & LDG XWIND limits
25 knots for all wet and dry
- FO with more than 300hrs on type can operate on 30m RWY provided xwind is less than 10kts*
RNP AR -
Limitation with DTO clearances to a RF (Radius to Fix) ?
You cannot accept a DTO RT point. You can only except a DTO clearance to the point prior to
RNP AR -
Choice of approach minima ?
Choose the highest possible minima for the least strain on RNP EQUIPMENT for example.
WX conditions meet 0.3 RNP so select that rather than going for 0.1 RNP
When do you know you have approach logic?
And what action coincides with this ?
When you get VRNP scale come up and you have magenta ANP/Deviation display.
When you have this and are 300’ below MAP altitude you can set MAP altitude
3 step process setting up FMC for circling approach
- Bring RX06(2NM) TO TOP
- SET INTERCEPT CRS
- BRING RW06 BELOW RX06
EXECUTE
- Ensure CRZ ALT is changed to 1500’ for correct Chinese glideslope guidance *
Idea for circling in OPC -
Once visual because company minimums are 1500’ & 8km vis request a visual approach so if unstable you can conduct visual MAP
MAP procedure from visual approach in CTA. Climb runway heading await instructions from ATC.
PRM BREAKOUT
Remember to recycle FD’S
What speed offers full manoeuvring capability?
Vref+5 as long outside amber band
QRH NNC reading when get to diamonds
You have 2 options
You have 4 options etc
Then read each option,
Select one and read the instructions for the one necessary.
Use DATA mode on EFIS control Panel it will show ALTITUDES at fixes on IAP. Extremely handy for height checks.
Eg: @ the FAF GS check on ILS it will be infront of you.
“OKMEL, HEIGHT CHECKED”
As above
Ensure when Landing data on a checklist comes up that the flap position is added
