Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Preoccupation with one or more perceived defects or flaws in physical appearance that are not observable or appear slight to others
At some point the individual has performed repetitive behaviors in response to the appearance concerns
Causes clinically significant distress or impairment
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Presence of obsessions or compulsions or both
Obsessions must have both:
Recurring persistent thoughts, impulses or images
Tries to disregard or neutralize them with a thought or behavior (compulsion)
Compulsions must have both:
Repetitive behaviors or mental acts that the individual feels driven to perform in response to obsession
Behaviors or mental acts are aimed at preventing or reducing anxiety or stress however these behaviors are not connected to the events they are suppose to counteract
The obsessions or compulsions are time consuming (take more than 1 hour) or cause clinically significant distress or impairment
Hoarding Disorder
Persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions regardless of their actual value
Difficulty is due to a perceived need to save the items and distress associated with discarding them
Difficulty discarding possessions results in congestion and clutter
Trichotillomania
Recurring pulling out of one’s hair resulting in hair loss
Repeated attempts to decrease or stop hair pulling
Causes significant distress or impairment
Excoriation Disorder
Recurrent skin picking resulting in skin lesions
Repeated attempts to decrease or stop skin picking
Causes significant distress or impairment
