What are the 2 Behavioural OCD characteristics?

A

(Repetitive compulsions )-suffers from OCD feel compelled to repeat a behaviour, such as hand washing.
( Avoidance) - Keeping away from situation that tigger their compulsions. Such as, sufferers who was compulsively avoid coming into contact with germs.

What are 4 Emotional OCD characteristics?

A

(Accompanying depression)- OCD is often accompanied by depression, so low mood and lack of enjoyment in activities can also be a feature of a suffers OCD experience.
(Guilt) -OCD suffers may feel guilt directed at the self.
(Anxiety and distress) - An unpleasant state of high arousal caused by the urge to repeat a behaviour.
(Disgust)- OCD sufferers may feel disgusted in themselves for performing their compulsions.

What are 3 Cognitive characteristics?

A

(Obsessive thoughts)- Unpleasant thoughts that occur over and over again.
(Cognitive strategies to deal with obsessions)- Sufferers adopt coping strategies that can distract them from everyday life. For example, a religious person tormented by guilt may respond by praying.
(Insight)- when you aware it is irrational
