clinical feature?
Obsession: recurrent, intrusive, anxiety - provoking thoughts, urges, or images.
compulsions: response to obsession with repeated behaviors or mental acts. behaviors not connected realistically with preventing feared event.
time - consuming (>1 hr/daily) or causing significant distress or impairment.
treatment?
selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (serotonergic antidepressants).
cognitive behavioral therapy ( exposure and response prevention).
first-line treatment?
selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants (fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, citalopram, escitalopram, sertaline).
serotonergic tricyclic antidepressant
clomipramine is sec line cuz it is less tolerated.
