observational learning Flashcards
observational learning
learning through watching behavior and associating the consequences with that behavior
bobo doll experiment
when children saw a women on tv beating up a bobo doll, they then did it themselves and copied the behaviour due to observational learning.
stages of observational learning
attention (actively watching a behavior being conducted ).
retention ( actively storing that behavior)
reproduction ( having the physical capability to perform that behavior)
motivation ( actively wanting to do the behavior)
reinforcement ( getting a consequence after the action has been performed).
intrinsic motivation
within the individual
example ( wanting to do well in a test ).
extrinsic motivation
external factors creating a want for the behavior to be performed.
example ( wanting to do well on a test because your parents will be happy ).
self-reinforcement
behavior is reinforced internally
example ( feeling proud of the mark you have).
external reinforcement
behavior is reinforced through external factors
example ( getting an award for the good grade ).
vicarious reinforcement
behavior is reinforced by seeing someone else do well by performing that behavior
example ( watching someone you trained score a goal ).
