Objective 2.0: Networking Flashcards
What does DHCP stand for, and what is its role in a network?
DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, and it automatically assigns IP addresses to devices on a network.
What are the differences between IPv4 and IPv6 addresses?
IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numeric addresses, while IPv6 addresses are 128-bit alphanumeric addresses, allowing for a much larger address space.
Define the term “subnet mask” and its purpose.
A subnet mask is a 32-bit number that divides an IP address into network and host parts, used to define the size of a network.
