alters fat digestion by inhibiting pancreatic lipases, fat hydrolysis, & increasing fecal fat excretion
What are the AEs of Orlistat?
GI (borborygmi, cramps, gas), decreases absorption of DEKA, renal calculi
What are the contraindications of Orlistat?
patients w/malabsorptive disease, hx of Ca++ oxalate stones, cholestasis, pregnancy
What are the brand names of Liraglutide?
Victoza, Saxenda
What is the indication for Liraglutide?
alternative option for initial tx; good choice in DM2 & CV disease
used for initial BMI >/= 30kg/m2 or 27kg/m2 w/one comorbidity
What is the MOA of Liraglutide?
GLP-1 receptor agonist; GI peptides that stimulate glucose dependent insulin secretion; delays gastric emptying
What are the AEs of Liraglutide?
N/V (common)
diarrhea, hypoglycemia, anorexia
When is Liraglutide contraindicated?
pregnancy
family hx of medullary thyroid CA or MEN 2a or 2b
What is the warning with Liraglutide?
concomitant use with insulin

What is the MOA of Lorcaserin?
selective serotonin agonist; reduces appetite
What are the AEs of Lorcaserin?
HA, URI, nasopharyngitis, dizzy, N
