a BMI of >30kg/m2
Lifestyle advice includes:
• engaging in a weight management programme that increases physical activity + improves diet and eating behaviour.
An anti-obesity drug should only be considered for those
• with a BMI >30kg/m2 in whom lifestyle changes are ineffective. Alternatively, the drug can be given to those with a BMI >28kg/m2 but with risk factors.
OTC Orlistat
60mg
- Given to those >18 years old
and with a BMI >28kg/m2
POM Orlistat
120mg
- Given to those >18 years old
and with a BMI >30kg/m2 OR 28kg/m2 with risk factors
Supplementation with Orlistat
Vitamin Supplementation with Orlistat (especially Vitamin D) may be considered if there is a concern about deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins.
