If ur BMI is above 30kg or >28kg with other conditions (T2DM, hypothyroidism)
120mg TDS
Only continue treatment if theyve lost 5% of their body weight within first 3 months (target lower for T2DM)
Omit dose when you miss a meal or if you have a meal with no dietary fat
Orlistat MOA
Lipase inhibitor- reduces absorption of dietary fat
Orlistat requires vitamin supplements alongside it, why?
Orlistat stops absorption of vitamins ADEK
When is bariatric surgery an option
BMI
In patients with BMI more than or equal to 40kg/m2 or in those BMI 35-39.9 with risk factor - hypertension, T2DM etc.
When is saxenda (liraglutide) used in obesity
Discontinue if?
Max dose
Adjunct use with lifestyle in patients with BMI more than or equal to 30kg/m2 or 28kg/m2 with risk
Discontinue if theyve not lost at least 5% after 3 months of use
Max dose is 3mg daily
Saxenda (liraglutide) isnt recommended in which medical association
