A

There is research support from big man who investigated the role of uniform by asking someone and milk made outfit a guard outfit a normal jacket and tie to ask random people to pick up litter people wearing the guard uniform had a two times more obedience rate than those who are wearing the jacket and tie there for supporting the influence of uniform
I have also been cross-cultural replications news replicated the procedure for Dutch participants in a more realistic way by asking them to are stressful questions to a Confederate who is desperate for a job 90% obeyed
When the experimenter asking them to give these stressful questions I was not present obedience rates dropped because of the influence of proximity

Situational explanations - agentic state vs autonomous state

A

The agentic state is when a person believes they are being an agent for someone else acting for them and taking no responsibility for own actions
Autonomous state is a state if independence and total self responsibility
The agentic shift is when a person switches from being autonomy to being an agent due to viewing someone else as more authoritarian as they are higher on the social hierarchy
