Requirement of Calcium in different groups
Children: need 2-3 times more in mg/kg of body weight than adults.
Children (9-18 years): need 1300 mg per day
Lactating and pregnant women: need 1000 mg per day
Adolescent lactating and pregnant women: need 1300 mg per day
Elderly: need 1300 mg per day
Infants: essential for bone growth
Childhood: (1-3 years): 500 mg
(4-8 years): 800 mg
Protein requirements
Most in:
- Elderly: to keep muscle mass
1.0-1.2g/kg to maintain muscle
If renal issues, 0.8-1.0g/kg
- Pregnant women: normal needs +10 mg
Greatest demand for protein is in 2nd & 3rd trimester of pregnancy
-Lactating women: normal needs + 15 mg

Protein requirement kind of decreases w age in the middle
Infants:
first 6 months: 2.2
second 6 months: 1.6
Childhood
1-3: 1.2
4-6:1.1
7-10: 1.0
Adolescence
11-14: 1.0
15-18: 0.9 (males) 0.8 (females)
In the second and third trimester of pregnancy, intake levels increase for
Protein (idk) & Iron (30 mg per day)
Iron requirement
- HIGHEST IN PREGNANCY:
ABSORBED IRON (NOT INTAKE) IN TRIMESTERS:
first: 0.8 second: 4.4 third 6.3 (which equals 30mg in intake)
So, 30mg given as prophylactic dose, and in case of anemia 60mg
