- don’t want to offend anyone
- weight stigmatisation
What are the 5 A’s for when we discuss weight/diet?
ASK - if they want to talk about it
ASSESS - readiness for change and weight measurement
ADVISE - make it clear, specific and personalised
ASSIST - patient in achieving their goals
ARRANGE - follow up appt, referrals to specialists/weight watches/etc
What is mindful eating?
Slow down eating, chew more and taste the food
Helps to reduce intake, increase enjoyment, aid digestion, improve food choices
