Lipids, provides energy and involved in development of cell membrane
Proteins
Build, maintain and repair body cells
Secondary function is to provide fuel for the body
Digestion definition
Refers to how the body processes food in the digestive system and eliminates food waste
Metabolism definition
The sum of all chemical reactions in the cells of the body, it allows body structures to carry out their functions
Macronutrients
Nutrients that are required in large amounts
E.g carbs, fats and proteins
Micronutrients
Nutrients that are required in small amounts
E.g vitamins and minerals
Fibre
Part of the plant that cannot be digested
E.g fruits veggies nuts and grains
Provides feeling of fullness absorption of water and cholesterol and also assists in bowel movements
