What do we mean by the term point sources & non-point sources and what forms can they take?
Domestic sewage and industrial wastes act as point sources because they are generally collected by a network of pipes or channels and convwyed to a single point of discharge into the receiving water.
Urban and agricultural runoff are characterized by multiple discharge points and are called non-point sources
What 2 methods does the environmental engineer use to restore water quality?
An environmental engineer can properly design the treatment facilities to remove these pollutants to acceptable levels or can help to choose chemicals to be used in a specific proces that will not have a deleterious effect on the environment.
