Q

How do you change a fraction into a decimal?

A

If the bottom is already 10 then put the top into the first decimal place eg 7/10=0.7
If the bottom is already 100 then put the top into the first two decimal placed eg 13/100=0.13 3/100=0.03
Etc

If the bottom isn’t 10 or 100 can you change the bottom to be 10 or 100 eg 2/5 can be written as 4/10 double both which equals 0.4
Eg 17/20=85/100 (times top and bottom number by 5) = 0.85

If neither of the above work do the division eg 3/8 means 3 divided by 8. If you do that division the bus stop method and adding .0000 it gives 0.375

Q

How do you turn a fraction into a percentage?

A

If the fraction is over a 100 then the top is the percentage.
If the bottom can be changed into 100 do that then the top is a percentage 3/50 = 6/100 =6%
If nether of these work then do the division to make a decimal then times by 100 eg 3/8 = 0.375 = 37.5%
