You dived the top number by the bottom number(11 divided by 4 which equals 2). Creating a whole number. However if they is a reminder ( in this case 3) then it will be 2 and 3/4

Times the whole number by the bottom number and add the top. 4x3 + 2 = 14 This is the new top. The bottom stays the same. (3) the answer is 14/3
