Highest common factor: all the factor each number has in common multiplied together.

17
Q

What is the HCF of 400 and 1080

A

400 = 2x2x2x2x5x5
1080 = (2x2x2)x3x3x3xx(5)
HCF (in brackets) = 2x2x2x5 = 40

18
Q

What is LCM?

A

Cross out the common factors each number has and multiple what is left.

19
Q

What is the LCM of 400 and 1080

A

400 = 2x2x2x2x5x5
1080 = (2x2x2)x3x3x3xx(5)
cross out he ones in brackets and multiple the rest….you can use a calculator =2x2x2x2x5x5x3x3x3 =10800
