Nuerons Flashcards
what are the 3 nuerons?
sensory, motor and relay
What do sensonry nuerons do?
CARRY nerve impulses from sensory receptors found in PERIPHERAL NS to the CNS
These RECEPTORS are found in the eyes, ears, tongue, skin
Some sensory nuerons carry INFO to the BRAIN from receptors which TRANSLATES the info into SENSATIONS.
what do motor nuerons do?
begin in the CNS and send their AXONS outside the cns to CONTROL muscles and glands
Form SYNAPSES with muscles and control their CONTRACTIONS
When TRIGGERED, motor nuerons RELEASE nuerotransmitters that BIND to receptors on the muscle and trigger MOVEMENT.
what do relay nuerons do?
nuerons go in BETWEEN sensory and motor outputs.
They allow sensory and motor nueronsn to COMMUNICATE. And allow COG processes and decision making.
Only found in BRAIN and SPINE
