A

cutting, burning, scraping/scratching skin, biting, hitting, skin picking, and interfering with wound healing
common areas of injury: frontal area of the thighs and the dorsal side of forearm
typically last 1 year and happen repeatedly
do not seek help
done with the intent to either alleviate psychic pain or numbness
